Scott Hartman

Think the Yankees... Dream Team... Manchester United... Tiger Woods... Michael Jordan... Lance Armstrong/Neil Armstrong... Davie Crockett and Ghengis Khan!

What have they all got in common? They each tremble at the mention of the Brass Band of Battle Creek. We're BAD! (Even I'm a little scared)

There is absolutely nothing like this ensemble in the world of music. I'm surrounded by people who are the acknowledged 'Ultimate' in their field. Whatever a brass instrument is capable of, you'll hear it here - and nobody is more amazed at what we hear than the other members of the band. Hold on tight.

Scott Hartman is regarded as one of the world's finest chamber music trombonists. From 1984 to 1993, as a member of the Empire Brass, he performed in all 50 states and also in Japan, Russia, England, Germany, Ireland, Iceland,Venezuela, Canada, France, and Switzerland, and he was featured on dozens of Empire Brass recordings.

Although he considers himself to be a chamber music specialist, Hartman has performed in the trombone sections of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, and the St. Louis Symphony.

Solo engagements include appearances with the Boston Pops Orchestra and the New Japan Philharmonic.

Hartman has served on the faculties of Indiana University, Boston University, and the New England Conservatory. He conducts a highly successful seminar for trombone at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute each summer. As a member of the Empire Brass, Hartman was a regular visiting professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Mannes School of Music.
